Kąty Wrocławskie can be explored in several ways: by looking at its historic townscape, visiting the Regional Memory Chamber or following one of the cycling routes described here. For planning, the routes offer specific differences in distance, duration and difficulty; the sights also provide insights into the town’s architecture and history.

Cycling routes of varying distances

EuroVelo 9, the “Amber Route,” passes through Kąty Wrocławskie. A separate, blue-marked circular route, the Szlak Bobra, starts there and runs via Jurczyce, Romnów, Małkowice, Sadowice, Sadkówek and Sośnica before returning to town. It is 16 kilometres long, takes about two hours and is considered easy and suitable for cycling with children. These details help you gauge the scope of a ride without having to plan a longer route.

The green-marked Szlak Bielika also starts and finishes in Kąty Wrocławskie, but runs via Sośnica, Krobielowice, Zachowice, Czerńczyce and Kamionna. At 23 kilometres and about three hours, it is longer and is described as more challenging. The two circular routes can therefore be compared by their stated distance, approximate duration and difficulty.

Other cycling connections offer different options. A green cycling route connects Kąty Wrocławskie with Leśnica in Wrocław, Mrozów, Środa Śląska, Lubiąż and Wołów. The R9 cycle path runs via Małkowice to Wrocław Muchobór Wielki. Another route starts in Kąty Wrocławskie, loops around a reservoir through scenic areas of the Bystrzyca Valley and is 74 kilometres long.

Town layout and architectural history

The layout of the town is another subject to explore on a walk through Kąty Wrocławskie. The market square is rectangular, with eight streets branching off from it. Within the former walls and moat, the regular layout of the buildings has been preserved: it is visible in the street plan and in the parks and green corridors.

Among the town’s distinctive buildings is the late Gothic parish church of St Peter and Paul, which shapes the town’s skyline. The Gothic church dates from the 15th century; its presbytery has a polygonal end and its tower is octagonal. The town hall provides a different architectural accent, with Neo-Romanesque forms. Together, these buildings invite visitors to consider both religious architecture and the town hall when exploring the town.

A designated sightseeing route is called “Zabytki Kątów Wrocławskich.” It was created in cooperation between the Kąty Wrocławskie municipality and Footsteps. As a thematic complement to the cycling routes, it draws attention to the town’s sights; when planning, you can consider a sightseeing tour and the routes described here as different ways of getting to know the town.

Insights into the region

The Regional Memory Chamber brings together documents, photographs, archaeological finds, books and other items relating to the town and municipality of Kąty Wrocławskie. It is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 08:00 to 16:00, Thursdays from 12:00 to 18:00, and Saturdays from 10:00 to 16:00. Check the opening hours before your visit if you would like to include the Chamber in your plans.

The landscape also connects the town to the surrounding region: the Bystrzyca Valley Landscape Park includes Kąty Wrocławskie. This means that your choice of activities can encompass the town’s history and buildings, cycling routes and its setting in the valley. You can weigh up these specific differences depending on whether you prefer a shorter circular route, a longer ride, or a focus on the townscape and its history.
