A Church Between Two Eras

The Neoclassical Church of Our Lady of the Rosary was built in 1791–1792. A church already existed in Kiełczów in the Middle Ages; a written reference from 1335 attests to its existence. More than four centuries separate the reference and the construction of this building. Neoclassical Design and a Hall Interior

The church interior is a hall with two levels of brick galleries. A hall is a single, continuous main space; galleries are raised platforms within the church. The two levels arrange these galleries one above the other. The material and number of levels are also specific features: the brickwork describes how the galleries were built, while the two levels describe their arrangement in the space. “Neoclassical” refers to a style inspired by the forms of antiquity.
