The intermunicipal yellow cycling route starts at the Rynek in Skwierzyna and leads via Rakowo to Kolonia Brzozowiec. It is 14.3 kilometres long. If you plan your rides around a specific distance, this figure gives you a clear point of reference. The regional green Lubiatów–Krasne Dłusko cycling route passes through the Skwierzyna municipality via Wiejce, Krobielewko, Skrzynica, Nowy Dwór and Świniary, as well as the Skwierzyna Gaj viewpoint and the Rynek. On this route, you can use the named places and stops as your points of reference. The two descriptions therefore emphasise different things: the yellow route’s distance and the green route’s course. Fish, rivers and Park Ryb
Park Ryb features oversized fish models, including carp, catfish and eel. The park opened in 2019 to share information about fish, their natural habitats and their diets, with a particular focus on locally occurring species. An educational trail also covers fishing, the region and rivers. A sign beside each model provides a detailed description of the species. The models, signs and educational trail link individual fish species with topics such as habitats and rivers. Park Ryb Pojezierza Dobiegniewskiego is open to the public. Check before your visit whether any restrictions are currently in place.
Jewish history and Late Gothic architecture
Skwierzyna’s Jewish cemetery is located on a hill historically called Judenberg (“Jewish Hill”). As part of the “Przywrócić pamięć” (“Restore the Memory”) project, the cemetery was cleaned and restored in 2001–2002; information boards in Polish and English were installed on site. The parish church of St Nicholas, Bishop, offers a different cultural-historical perspective: it is Late Gothic and dates from the 15th century. The two sites offer different points of interest: the cemetery centres on its historical name and restoration, while the church is notable for its architectural style and date. You can therefore consider the history of remembrance and architecture as separate themes when planning your trip.
Visiting hours for Izba Pamięci Drogownictwa
The exhibits at Izba Pamięci Drogownictwa in Skwierzyna are open to visitors on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Other visiting times can be arranged in advance with the person in charge. The address is Gorzowska 17a. As the schedule may change, check visiting hours with the venue beforehand.
