The Muzeum Ziemi Międzyrzeckiej im. Alfa Kowalskiego complex includes a castle dating from the 14th to the 16th century. It is the only royal Piast castle in Lubusz Voivodeship. Every year on the Friday before Palm Sunday, thousands of worshippers gather at the first station and walk the entire route by torchlight to the sanctuary. The church in Rokitno near Międzyrzecz was elevated to the status of a minor basilica by Pope John Paul II in 2001.
