Water, wind and routes

The 26-kilometre Szlak trzech jezior runs from Opole (Oppeln) to Bierdzany, passing through Zawada, Turawa and Zakrzów Turawski. Turawa is a water sports centre in the Opole region. Activities include sailing, motorboating and windsurfing in particular. Jezioro Duże is known for its strong winds and is well suited to sailing. This means that, alongside a route with clearly named stops, various water activities can be considered as separate themes when planning a trip.

Protected landscapes and cycle path

The Jeziora Turawskie form a Natura 2000 site designated for the special protection of birds. The Bory Niemodlińskie offer a different kind of protection: they are protected as a landscape area, numerous plant and animal species are also protected there, and some of the habitats are part of the Natura 2000 network. This lets you distinguish between an area with special bird protection and a landscape protection area with additional protection for species and habitats. A 14-kilometre walking and cycling path connecting Opole with the Jeziora Turawskie was also completed in 2023. Check the path’s current condition before setting out. Carp and regional cuisine

Niemodlin carp is farmed in ponds in the Bory Niemodlińskie, particularly in the municipalities of Niemodlin and Tułowice. It is included on the list of traditional products and gives regional cuisine its own distinctive focus. The Wojewódzkie Święto Karpia Opolskiego is associated with an open-air festival held in early October at Zamek Książęcy in Niemodlin. The festival promotes Karp Opolski, a fish with a centuries-old tradition and a distinctive flavour. The programme includes cooking demonstrations by top chefs, tastings, workshops for children, stalls run by local producers and fishing competitions.
