Orzesze can be explored from very different perspectives: churches and historic sites tell the story of the area, while the Pasieki water complex and a regional cycling route bring landscapes and outdoor activity into the picture. This gives you two main areas to focus on as you plan: cultural sites in the local districts and outdoor experiences. Which ones you combine depends on whether you want to focus on architectural history, views or an active tour.

Churches and historic sites

The Church of St. Lawrence in Orzesze combines a Gothic form with Renaissance architectural details. It was built around 1590 at the initiative of Wawrzyniec Trach and his wife, Anna Maria of the Frankenberg family. Another church with its own local history is the Church of the Holy Spirit: its construction was made possible by a bequest from Katarzyna Hegenscheidt of Zawiść.

Zawiść is also home to a Baroque palace, a residence dating from the first half of the 18th century. Former farm buildings have been preserved in the park. The palace is not open to visitors and can only be viewed from outside the fence; plan to see it from the outside, and check visiting options before you travel. In Gardawice, the manor and park complex is considered an example of Orzesze’s secular culture. In Orzesze-Mościska, the Szarotki regional group keeps Silesian traditions alive in a regional chamber.

Pasieki, elevation and views

At 357.2 metres above sea level, Góra św. Wawrzyńca is the highest point in the municipality. A landscape park is located on the hill. There is a viewpoint on its slope, where you can see a panorama of central Orzesze. This means the same hill offers both a notable high point and a view of the town centre.

Pasieki is also in the municipality: its three largest ponds form a water complex linked by numerous dams. It extends along the boundaries of the Orzesze, Zawiść, Zazdrość and Gardawice districts. For orientation, it is more helpful to think of it as more than a single pond: Pasieki is a connected complex associated with several local districts.

Cycling and walking routes nearby

Orzesze railway station is about two kilometres from the cycling route; use this distance as a rough guide and check your travel arrangements in advance.
