Discover Czerwionka-Leszczyny through trails and historic sites, each offering a different focus. In Leszczyny, a nature and history trail runs through a manor park; in Bełk and Palowice, educational trails connect other places with their history. You can plan your trip around a trail, a historic building or a landscape. The examples range from an old pedunculate oak by a pond to the remains of an ironworks.

A trail through the manor park in Leszczyny

The approximately 2 km-long nature and history trail “Wśród leszczyn i śladów Bartelta” starts at the manor house in Leszczyny, known as “Zameczek”. From there, it leads through the manor park to a large pedunculate oak. The tree grows beside a pond and a residential building referred to as the town hall. The trail brings together parkland, a prominent landmark tree and the history of the place.

The location is also useful context for understanding the trail: it is in the Leszczyny district. The approximate length gives you an idea of the route’s distance, but not how long it takes to walk. As the trail’s current condition is unknown, it is worth checking before your visit.

Manor houses and places of remembrance

Leszczyny is also home to a Neoclassical manor house known as “Zamek”. Konrad von Bartelt had it built in 1882 on the site of an earlier wooden manor house. The building offers a tangible point of reference if you are interested in the district’s architectural history; this does not imply that the interior is open to the public.

A 19th-century manor house building has also survived in the Czerwionka district. It is surrounded by a park with valuable trees, a remnant of the former manor park. These traces of the area’s former manor-house landscape differ from the trail in Leszczyny: here, the surviving building and its trees take centre stage.

You can encounter a different aspect of history in Leszczyny on the Szlak Historii Górnictwa Górnośląskiego. The trail passes a monument to 292 Auschwitz prisoners who were murdered near Rzędówka railway station in January 1945 during the evacuation of the camp. The memorial commemorates this crime and offers a sombre historical perspective alongside the manor houses and parks.

Educational trails and ponds in the municipality

The approximately 2.5 km-long “Śladami Belka” educational trail starts in the centre of Bełk. It leads to the historic wooden Church of St. Mary Magdalene and the hill “Górka Lukasów”, built in 1866. The route thus links a wooden religious building with a hill whose year of construction is known.

The educational trail in Palowice is longer, at 3.5 km. It ends at the ruins of the “Waleska” ironworks beside the Jesionka. Along the Stawy Łańcuchowe, the landscape offers a different perspective: the trail provides opportunities to observe different stages of aquatic succession and waterbirds. Some ponds are becoming heavily overgrown with marsh and woodland vegetation; however, bird sightings are not guaranteed.

The trail distances provide a simple basis for comparison: around 2 km in Leszczyny, approximately 2.5 km in Bełk and 3.5 km in Palowice. Their destinations also differ significantly—from a manor park and oak to a church and hill, and on to ironworks ruins and a pond landscape. When planning your trip, consider which of these historical or scenic highlights interests you most.
