Dynów lies high above the San Valley, surrounded by the hills of the Dynów Foothills. Its landscape, trails and buildings reveal different sides of the town: you can plan your trip around hiking and cycling routes, or explore local history and the narrow-gauge railway. If you are looking for a hotel in Dynów, it helps to consider which of these themes matters most for your trip to Poland.

Landscape and trails around Dynów

Three marked tourist hiking trails pass through Dynów. Before setting out, check whether the trail markers are still up to date. Another option is a marked route of about 17 kilometres, with five viewpoints and beaches along the San. Most of this route is currently accessible and prepared for cyclists; the viewpoints can also be reached on foot. For this route, you can choose between cycling and visiting the viewpoints on foot, without assuming that the same conditions apply to both.

Distinct from these is the “Doliną Sanu” nature, education and tourism cycling trail, designated by the Association of Tourism Municipalities of the Dynów Foothills, with starting and finishing points in Dynów. Two of its routes start and end in the town. The second runs via Łubno and Nozdrzec, includes a ferry crossing and Dąbrówka Starzeńska, and is about 22 kilometres long. Unlike the roughly 17-kilometre route with five viewpoints and beaches, its described course includes a ferry crossing. Check the ferry timetable and current trail conditions before setting out.

Local history and buildings

The town itself also offers various points of interest for cultural exploration. The market square is lined with houses and townhouses dating from around the turn of the 20th century. The late-Renaissance Church of St. Lawrence was built in the 17th century, and its vault is decorated with stucco. Dynów is first mentioned in 1423, under the name Denow. These historical details give your plans a different focus from the trails along the San and the viewpoints.

Bartkówka Street is home to two bunkers belonging to the so-called Molotov Line. The first is a single-embrasure frontal bunker built into the slope of Winnica, near house no. 18. Its description makes the bunker’s location on the slope and its specific design tangible. Another way to explore local history is the “Śladami Żydowskich Mieszkańców Dynowa” educational trail, which tells the story of Dynów’s Jewish residents. Alongside the buildings, Jewish local history and how it is presented are therefore distinct topics to consider when planning your trip.

The narrow-gauge railway as another focus

Dynów station combines a striking station building with a distinctive exhibit: the station has a locomotive set up as an open-air museum. The building is considered the most representative station building along the narrow-gauge railway line. The Przeworska Kolej Dojazdowa line runs between Dynów and Przeworsk. The railway adds another option alongside the landscape, cycling and hiking trails, and the town’s historic sites. The stated endpoints provide a guide, but do not replace checking the timetable if you plan to take a train.

When choosing where to stay, you can weigh these options against one another: the routes differ in length and course, as well as in the viewpoints mentioned; the buildings and educational trail offer insight into different aspects of local history.
