Jabłonka on Lake Omulew

Jabłonka brings together water, forest and a specific piece of local history. The village is one of the four villages in the Kraina 7 osobliwości area, associated with Lake Omulew in the Puszcza Ramucko-Napiwodzka. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing between the activities by the lake and in its wider surroundings, and the routes and sights right in the village. Kayaking on the Omulew

A marked kayaking route on the Omulew runs from Jabłonka on Lake Omulew through Kot, Dębowiec, Głuch and Wesołowo to Wielbark. The route is 43 km long. This gives anyone planning a longer river trip a clear reference point. The sequence of places listed and the destination of Wielbark make it easy to understand this as one continuous route, rather than confuse it with the trails around the lake.

Jabłonka is considered the best starting point for kayaking on the Omulew; kayaks can be launched at several locations. So check the current conditions for launching locally before planning your trip. This keeps the choice of starting point separate from the practical arrangements: Jabłonka is the stated departure point, while the conditions at the specific launch site should be checked in advance.

Forest trails and other ways to enjoy the water

In the wider surroundings of Lake Omulew, hiking, horse-riding and cycling trails pass through wooded areas and by the Koniuszanka II nature reserve. These trails complement the kayaking route with other ways to experience the landscape.

Water sports and fishing are also among the recreational activities available in the wider surroundings of the lake. A kayaking trip on the Omulwia runs as far as its confluence with the Narew near Ostrołęka. This is a different river trip from the 43 km route on the Omulew: the rivers and destinations named here make it easier to distinguish between different kayaking ideas. A trip on the Omulwia and a trip starting in Jabłonka on the Omulew are therefore not the same route.

The Szlak Bursztynowy, or Amber Trail, also passes through Jabłonka; its length is given as approximately 53 km. This approximate distance offers another point of reference alongside the kayaking route, whose length is stated precisely as 43 km.

A building in the village centre

A wooden Evangelical chapel stands on a low hill in the centre of the village. It offers a different focus from the waterways and forest trails and is one of Jabłonka’s distinctive features. Visitors interested in the village itself will find a building they can locate in the village landscape, alongside the outdoor activities. The chapel adds another dimension to Jabłonka without requiring water-based activities and village history to be treated as a single excursion.

A dated glimpse of past events takes us back to 2013: on 17 August, several sports competitions and the culinary contest “Dary lasu i jeziora na talerzu” were held on Jabłonka beach. Together with the chapel and the routes, this illustrates different aspects of the village: its centre, a past event on the beach and the activities available in the wider area, focused on water and forest.
