Wikno brings together a special place in the landscape and experiences centred on forests, water and cycling. For your trip to Poland, you can choose the area based on whether you are more interested in forest topics, lakeside routes or a cycling trip. The different suggestions are not all in the same place: some relate to Wikno, while others are in the surrounding area.

Wikno and the “Kraina 7 osobliwości”

Wikno is one of four villages that, together with Lake Omulew, make up the “Kraina 7 osobliwości” in the Puszcza Ramucko-Napiwodzka. Alongside Wikno, this group includes Jabłonka, Natać Duża and Natać Mała. The name gives your stay a specific regional connection: you discover not just one place, but a landscape whose distinctive character is described through the interplay of the four villages and the lake.

This may influence your choice of Wikno as a destination if you want to focus on nature experiences and getting to know the local area. At the same time, it is worth distinguishing between the different activities by their character: the nature trail explores processes in the forest, while another circular route passes the shores of two lakes. This lets you plan your outings around the topics that interest you most.

Forest knowledge on the Koniuszanka II nature trail

The “Koniuszanka II” nature trail is located near Wikno. The loop is about 2.5 kilometres long and passes twelve information stations. It focuses on processes in the forest, including succession, natural regeneration, forest conversion and tree dieback. The trail is therefore suited to anyone who wants to do more than simply walk through the landscape on an outing and would also like to learn about changes in the forest.

Lakeside routes and bathing spots in the area

In the surrounding area, the “Szlak Wokół Omulewa” circular route approaches the shores of Lake Omulew and Lake Trzcinowe. There are places to stop and go for a swim. So, if you want to combine an outing with time by the water, this offers a different focus from the Koniuszanka II nature trail: the emphasis is on the two lakes and places to pause.

There was also a designated bathing area on Lake Omulew in Wikno itself in 2026. It was open from 26 June to 26 August 2026.

Cycling and planning your outings

The 2025 Wikno Festival programme included the family bike ride “Tour De Omulew”. If you are interested in cycling together, this look back adds a local event to the forest and lake themes.

Three possible starting points are suggested for driving to the yellow hiking trail: the car park by the forestry office, the start of the nature trail or Zajazd Myśliwski in Wikno. The yellow hiking trail should be distinguished from the nature trail’s closed loop.
