Historic Traces in the Village
An estate and park complex dating from the 19th century survives in Napiwoda. A commemorative plaque is dedicated to General Moczugowski and the soldiers who fell in 1914. These represent two different historical points of reference: the complex as an architectural record and the plaque as a specific memorial. The 19th-century date refers to the estate and park complex, while 1914 identifies the soldiers commemorated.
Cemeteries are also among Napiwoda’s historic features. An Evangelical cemetery dating from the second half of the 19th century survives. The family cemetery of the Holz–Dahrenstaedt family also survives and is listed as a protected historic site in the national register of monuments. The two sites are described differently: the Evangelical cemetery is identified by its denomination and date, while the family cemetery is identified by the family it belongs to and its protected status. Surviving buildings include utility buildings and a distillery, as well as traditional farm buildings. A former school building adds a reminder of education in the past. Other surviving historic features include a bell tower, a historic railway station and the seat of the forest administration of a state forest plantation.
