Steklno: Lake, bathing area and monument history
Accommodation in Steklno
Steklno can be explored through two specific points of interest: Lake Steklno, with its bathing and fishing opportunities, and the churchyard cemetery, which is listed as a historic monument. For your planning, the bathing hours and the different fishing requirements are important to know.
Lake Steklno: bathing area and fishing
At 47.5 hectares, Lake Steklno is the official and only bathing area in the municipality of Gryfino. Swimming is possible there under the supervision of lifeguards from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. If you are planning your stay around swimming, plan your day at the lake within this time window.
Fishing is also possible at the lake, but different requirements apply: Members of the Polish Angling Association may fish if they have paid the required regional or time-based fees. Non-members need to obtain a time-limited permit. Before fishing, check which of the two rules applies to you.
A historic monument in Steklno
The churchyard cemetery in Steklno was entered in the voivodeship register of historic monuments in August 1989. As well as its waterside setting, the town therefore has a specific historic monument of interest.
Gryfino in the wider Greifenhagen travel destination
Within the wider Greifenhagen travel destination, Gryfino is a distinct hub for urban history, culture and waterways. The 13th-century founding of the town is still clearly reflected in Gryfino’s historic layout.
Urban history, music and cinema
Regular choir concerts and the Gryfińskie organ music concerts are held at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gryfino. Kino Gryf is one of the smallest cinemas in Poland and the only cinema in Gryfino County. It screens film premieres and 3D films. If you are planning to attend a concert or a film, check the latest dates or programme.
Waterfront and waterways
The Gryfino waterfront on the right bank of the Eastern Oder serves passenger ship operations and water tourism. It is connected to the Zachodniopomorski Szlak Żeglarski network. This network links tourist ports and marinas in West Pomerania along the Oder, the Szczecin Lagoon and the Baltic coast with German waters. A cycle path runs along the entire Gryfino promenade; there is also a free public toilet there.
There is a water sports equipment rental service at the Oder Beach on ul. Sportowa. Equipment available includes single kayaks, double kayaks with room for a child, and SUP boards. This is separate from the unsupervised bathing area on the bank of the Eastern Oder in Gryfino, where swimming is prohibited.
Cycling and getting to Gryfino
A cycle path runs from Jana-Pawła-II Street in Gryfino via Wełtyń to Gardno. The section of the Blue Velo route associated with Gryfino is listed as approximately 46 kilometres long; the entire route is 257 kilometres. The section runs mainly along former railway embankments, as well as forest tracks and public roads with light traffic. While the route via Wełtyń to Gardno specifies a destination, the Blue Velo section can be identified by its approximate length and the types of roads described.
For travel to Gryfino, National Road 31 is a useful reference point: the town can be reached from Szczecin via this road. PKS Szczecin operates bus services from Gryfino bus station to Szczecin and to all localities in the municipality of Gryfino. You can therefore consider the road connection and the bus services from Gryfino as separate parts of your regional travel planning.
