Gryfino combines distinctive architecture with hiking trails, cycling routes and waterside activities. The city therefore offers different focuses to consider when choosing a destination: you can explore historic architecture and concerts, compare route lengths, or factor in leisure and wellness facilities.

Architectural history and concerts

The late Romanesque-Gothic parish church Kościół p.w. Narodzenia Najświętszej Maryi Panny is one of Gryfino’s defining landmarks. Construction began in 1278. The organs by Barnim Grüneberg have 30 stops, two manuals and a pedal. The church hosts choral concerts and the regularly held Gryfińskie Koncerty Organowe. If you would also like to plan your stay around music, check the concert dates before your trip.

Brama Bańska, the only one of Gryfino’s original three city gates still standing, was built in the 14th century. Mury obronne also give a tangible impression of the city’s fortifications: their best-preserved section is about 70 metres long and 4 metres high. These structures offer different points of interest—from a single gate to a section of the former walls.

The Lapidarium in the municipal cemetery and Pałacyk pod Lwami offer further insights into the city’s history. The Lapidarium displays tombstones from a former German cemetery and other cemeteries in the municipality. Pałacyk pod Lwami is a villa dating from the late 19th century; two stone lions stand at its entrance.

Compare parks and routes

Park Miejski im. Stanisławy Siarkiewicz is in the centre of Gryfino and covers 6.02 hectares. Górka Miłości offers a different view of the city and Międzyodrze. Its revitalised network of paths includes a viewpoint, benches and other recreational facilities.

Two routes of different lengths offer options for hikers. The red Nadodrzański hiking trail passes through Stare Brynki, Gryfino, Dolna Odra and Nowe Czarnowo; within the municipality, it covers 31.45 kilometres. The green Woja Żelisława trail runs through Żelisławiec, Wełtyń and Gryfino, covering 21.52 kilometres there. Length and the order of places are specific points of comparison, without indicating anything about walking time or difficulty.

Cyclists will also find a route with a direct connection to the city: Blue Velo No. 3 begins a few dozen metres from the Centrum Informacji Turystycznej in Gryfino and continues south through the city towards Trzcińsko-Zdrój. A cycle path also runs along the entire length of Nabrzeże Miejskie. This gives you the choice between a route leading onward from the city and one along the riverbank.

The Oder riverbank, watersports and the aquapark

Nabrzeże Miejskie is Gryfino’s riverside area for recreation and tourism, on the right bank of the Oder Wschodnia. It is connected to the ports and marinas of the Zachodniopomorski Szlak Żeglarski. The network links West Pomerania’s tourist ports along the Oder, the Szczecin Lagoon and the Baltic coast with German waters. At the river beach on ul. Sportowa, you can rent watersports equipment: single kayaks, two-person kayaks with room for a child, and SUP boards are available. You can check the specific selection of equipment before your visit.

Aquapark Laguna complements waterside activities with its own leisure and wellness area. Leisure facilities include a wave pool, an artificial wild-water river, a massage pool, whirlpools, waterslides and a children’s pool. The wellness area has a Tężnia, a dry sauna, an infrared sauna, a steam room, a massage room and a salt room. The facilities therefore include both a range of water attractions and several ways to relax.

If you are considering Gryfino as a place to stay, you can plan around the city’s themes: historic buildings and concerts, routes of different lengths, cycling along the riverbank, or watersports and the aquapark. When looking for hotels in Gryfino, this selection is a starting point for matching the destination to the focus of your trip.
