Historical Details
In the Middle Ages, Kolbatz became an important political center of the Duchy of Pomerania, and in 1210 the construction of a new church, a monastery, and defensive walls began there.
The abbey church features a late Romanesque design and a 13th-century triangular gable with a distinctive rose window.
The Cistercian complex includes the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the abbot's house, the lay brothers' house, and utility buildings, including a Gothic barn from the 15th century.
