Grzybowo lies on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea, where the coastline forms a bay known by the geographical name Zatoka Grzybowska. The beach, dunes and sports facilities give the town a variety of facets. Those interested in the coastal landscape can explore it alongside notable features at the beach entrances and opportunities to get active in town.
Coast, Bay and Dunes
Grzybowo beach is used by surfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts; conditions can vary. At the beach entrance on Plażowa Street, a pier leads to a viewing platform. These offer different ways to enjoy a stay at the beach: water sports are part of the town’s character, as is a walk out to a platform. The dunes include peat-rich steep slopes. Together with the bay, they shape a landscape that sets Grzybowo apart from a purely sports-focused destination.
Notable Spots on the Road and Beach
A three-dimensional “GRZYBOWO” sign stands beside a fountain on the main road. It is one of the town’s well-known attractions and a stopping point on walks and bike rides. This also lets visitors combine a visit to the town with a brief stop at a distinctive landmark.
At the beach entrance on Bałtycka Street is the art installation “Miłość od pierwszego jeżdżenia” by Wiktor Szostał. The international R-10 cycling route passes a walk-on sculpture called “Wielkie rowery” at the beach entrance on the same street. Visitors can climb onto the sculpture and take a photo.
Sports and Cycling
The Orlik sports complex, with football and basketball courts, is located in the western part of Grzybowo. The sports and recreation complex also includes a football pitch with a safe surface, a floodlit basketball court that is accessible in the evening, a playground and an outdoor gym. This means there are opportunities to get active in town away from the beach, too. This is a consideration in its own right when choosing a destination, alongside the coast and dunes.
Active tourism, including cycling tourism, is possible in Grzybowo and the surrounding areas.
The Wider Kołobrzeg Destination
In the wider Kołobrzeg (Kolberg) destination, the landscape of Gmina Kołobrzeg includes coastal dunes, peat bogs, pine forests, meadows, salt marshes and river valleys. In the Dźwirzyno and Grzybowo area, raised bogs with peat mosses and marsh vegetation are found; insectivorous plants also grow there. Dźwirzyno beach is a broad, sandy coastal stretch bordered by dunes and pine forest, making it suitable for walks and shaded relaxation. These landscapes and beach features belong to the wider Kołobrzeg destination, not to Grzybowo alone.
Also in the wider Kołobrzeg destination, Grzybowo and Dźwirzyno have three Nordic walking routes of varying difficulty that run along the beaches and through the coastal forest. The 55-kilometre Wokół Jeziora Resko route runs mostly through Gmina Kołobrzeg and also enters the neighbouring Gmina Trzebiatów. Looking beyond Grzybowo, visitors can therefore choose between coastal paths and a longer cycling route as different ways to explore actively.
