Coast and nature near Dźwirzyno
Dźwirzyno Beach is a wide, sandy stretch of coast between dunes and pine forest. It is ideal for walks and a shady place to relax. During the bathing season, there are lifeguarded sections of beach, food stalls, changing rooms and toilets. Some access points have been adapted for pushchairs and people with reduced mobility. There are three Nordic walking routes in Grzybowo and Dźwirzyno, with varying levels of difficulty. They run along the beaches and through the coastal forest. For a longer cycling trip, the 55-kilometre Wokół Jeziora Resko route is another option: it runs mostly through the Gmina Kołobrzeg and also passes into the neighbouring Gmina Trzebiatów. Bicycles can be rented at the Gminne Centrum Sportu i Rekreacji in Dźwirzyno to explore the Gmina.
Jezioro Resko Przymorskie offers opportunities for water sports, including windsurfing and kitesurfing. At the port of Dźwirzyno, formerly a fishing port and now a fishing and tourist port, coastal sailing, fishing trips and sea excursions in small boats are among the main activities. A modern bridge over the channel between the lake and the sea is considered a landmark of Dźwirzyno. Together, the lake, channel and port make this a distinctive destination for visitors interested in water and coastal activities.
Horse riding is also among the activities offered in the Gmina: horse farms and riding centres are listed in Budzistowo, Zieleniewo, Korzystno, Grzybowo and Stary Borek. You can choose among the different activities according to your interests, without having to make every day of your holiday the same.
Architecture and small discoveries
Historic buildings include the hunting palace in Budzistowo, built in the eclectic style around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Korzystno is home to a neo-Gothic church dating from 1866. It has a former cemetery, also established in 1866, surrounded by a distinctive brick wall. The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Karcino is another neo-Gothic building; it dates from 1869.
In Grzybowo, a three-dimensional “GRZYBOWO” sign stands on the main street next to a fountain. It makes a good place to take a short break during a walk or bike ride. Small details like these complement the larger nature and cultural attractions and offer a tangible point of interest between activities.
