Discover Młodocin
Accommodation in Młodocin
Młodocin can be explored through two distinct features of the village: the palace and park complex, and the hiking and cycling routes that pass through it. This can help you decide what to focus on when planning your trip: are you mainly interested in architecture and mature trees, or would you like to include Młodocin as a stop on a hiking or cycling tour? When looking for a holiday apartment, you can use this as a starting point and consider whether the manor house and park or the routes are more important for your plans.
Palace, manor house and location
The palace and park complex is located 6 km west of Barcin, on Road No. 251 between Inowrocław and Żnin, and is privately owned. The palace in Młodocin is a brick building in the neoclassical style. Brick refers to the building material; neoclassical refers to classical forms and thus to its stylistic classification. At the manor house in Młodocin, a columned portico on the front supports a balcony. A portico is a projecting structure supported by columns; its connection to the balcony makes this façade detail easy to picture.
Park and mature trees
The park belonging to the palace and park complex covers 1.2 hectares, or around 12,000 square metres. It is home mainly to European white elms, Norway maples, common ash trees, small-leaved lime trees and black locusts. Three trees in the park are designated natural monuments: two small-leaved lime trees with trunk circumferences of 310 and 550 cm, and an English oak with a trunk circumference of 330 cm. The largest measurement is that of the lime tree at 550 cm; the oak’s circumference is 20 cm greater than that of the lime tree at 310 cm. These figures compare trunk circumferences, not tree heights. The park’s area, its predominant tree cover and individual notable trees each represent a different aspect of the landscape.
Hiking and cycling routes
The municipal route description lists the Szlak Pałucki as a blue-marked hiking trail passing through Młodocin, and was last updated in 2017. Check the trail’s status before setting out. Within Barcin municipality, the Szlak Pałucki includes a 4 km section. It allows visitors to visit Młodocin and Pturek and offers views of the Noteć River and Lake Wolickie. The four kilometres refer to the section within the municipality, not necessarily the length of an entire hike.
The star-shaped cycling route was established in 2009. It runs from Barcin via Wolice, Wójcin, Kierzkowo, Młodocin, Pturek and Knieja, before returning to Barcin, and is described as scenic. Different features stand out in a comparison: for the Szlak Pałucki, the marked route, the 4 km section within Barcin municipality and the named views are relevant; the cycling route is distinguished by its succession of several places and its return to Barcin.
