Rudniki is home to the Lipówka quarry, a geological and natural heritage site in the municipality of Rędziny.

Nature

From the 19th century until 1989, Lipówka was an open-pit mine where Upper Jurassic limestone was extracted. After mining ended, the quarry developed into a mosaic of diverse terrestrial and aquatic habitats. Today, it features limestone cliffs and lakes that formed in the areas left behind by the former mining operations. Visitors can walk and cycle around the Lipówka quarry; there is also a pump track nearby.

Educational Trail

The ecological educational trail “Kopalnia przywrócona naturze” comprises 20 information boards at 13 thematic stations. It is open to the public year-round and free of charge. The trail also includes an audio guide with 16 recordings.
