Czarna Woda
Accommodation in Czarna Woda
In Czarna Woda, waterways meet hiking and cycling routes through the surrounding area. The Wda is particularly prominent: a water trail runs along the Czarna Woda–Wda section, and the canoeing trail on the Niechwaszcz also reaches the river mouth above Czarna Woda. If you would like to combine your trip with paddling, you will find several route options here rather than just a single trail.

Canoeing and the Wda
Czarna Woda has a canoe rental service that offers equipment hire, transport of the equipment after the tour, and support from a guide. These services are relevant when planning a specific trip: you can decide whether to organize a tour yourself or go with support. The Wda water trail runs along the Czarna Woda–Wda section; the canoeing trail on the Niechwaszcz runs from Zawada to the river mouth above Czarna Woda.
The Wda is also of interest to fly fishers. From Czarna Woda onward, the river is classified by the Polish Angling Association as a mountain trout and grayling river, and it attracts fly fishers. This means you can choose between a paddling trip and a stay focused on fishing, with different activities on the water.
Hiking and cycling trails with different routes
The yellow Kociewski Trail is a hiking and cycling route that ends at Czarna Woda railway station. In the opposite direction, the green Stone Circles Trail starts at the station and continues via Zawada, Klonowice and Odry. If you plan your trip around starting and ending points, you can consider these two trails based on their different routes.
The 27-kilometer Megalithic Cultures Trail is a loop from Czarna Woda via Leśna Huta, Wojtal and Odry, returning to Czarna Woda. The Arboretum Trail is 26 kilometers long. It starts at the exhibition on the nature of the Tuchola Forest and the Wda Valley and leads to the Arboretum and Dendrological Garden in Wirty. These distances refer to different trails, so choose according to the destination and route that suit your plans.
Forest, water engineering and culture
Czarna Woda is surrounded by pine forests. Their understory is rich in mushrooms, berries and other wild fruits. The forest setting adds a natural dimension to the range of trails. Czarna Woda is also home to a meadow irrigation system and a Wda canal built in 1848—two reminders of the area’s water engineering history.
Cultural attractions include the Church of Our Lady of Częstochowa in Czarna Woda, which features Stations of the Cross images by Tadeusz Rupiewicz. A wooden sculpture gallery by Michał Ostoja-Lniski offers another artistic point of interest. If you would like your travel interests to include art and religious imagery as well as the river and trails, you will find a variety of themes in the town.
Getting there and choosing accommodation
National Road 22 and the Tczew–Piła railway line pass through Czarna Woda. National Road 22 was formerly called the Berlinka and connected Berlin with Königsberg. This information provides a general overview of road and rail connections; specific timetables and journey times depend on the connection. When looking for a hotel, holiday apartment or holiday home in Czarna Woda, you can first consider whether river activities, hiking and cycling trails, or culture will be the main focus of your stay.
An annual canoe trip combined with a cleanup on the Wda runs from Wojtala via Czarna Woda to Złem Mięsem. It combines a river route with a group cleanup and, as an annual event, is another point of interest for paddling enthusiasts.
