Königsdorff-Jastrzemb: Nature Trails, Cycling Route and Carbonarium
Accommodation in Königsdorff-Jastrzemb
Königsdorff-Jastrzemb (Jastrzębie-Zdrój) combines nature experiences with a cross-border cycling route, water-based recreation and a museum dedicated to the city’s history. For your travel planning, this means you can choose different focuses rather than shaping your stay around just one way of exploring. Explore green spaces, plan a longer cycling loop or learn about coal and its industrial use—the attractions appeal to a range of interests.

Green spaces, gorge and river landscape
The Jastrzębski Szlak Przyrodniczy “Śladami Natury” is not a single signposted route. It brings together green spaces with distinctive plant and animal populations, which you can explore individually via existing roads and paths. This distinguishes the nature trail from a fixed circular route: you travel along existing paths through the individual green areas.
The Dolina Mikołaja, the lower part of Park Zdrojowy, is a nature area in its own right. It is lushly vegetated and crisscrossed by numerous paths between the slopes of a gorge. The meanders of the Szotkówka are considered the most valuable feature of Jastrzębie-Zdrój’s inanimate natural environment. The river is a regionally important refuge for fish fauna and is one of the refuges in the Olza catchment area. European beavers (Castor fiber) and Eurasian otters (Lutra lutra) have also been recorded there.
Las Ruptawiec is home to another refuge where protected bird species find habitat. These include the common buzzard (Buteo buteo), which nests in one of the pine trees. Together with the green spaces and river landscape described above, this creates a picture of nature encompassing different habitats without combining them into a single route.
Cycling through the border region
The Żelazny Szlak Rowerowy is a 54-kilometre circular route in the Polish-Czech border region. It passes through Jastrzębie-Zdrój, Godów, Zebrzydowice, Karviná and Piotrowice near Karviná. The route is considered easy to ride and is also suitable for road bikes and bicycle trailers. It offers a different scale of planning than the green spaces, which you can explore individually: you can include a named, cross-border cycling loop in your plans. Its stated total length helps you gauge the scope of this option; it does not indicate a specific riding time.
Water-based recreation and summer events
Kąpielisko Zdrój comprises a swimming and leisure pool with several water attractions: bubbling steps, floor and wall massages, a water hedgehog, a current channel and a winding slide. There is also a children’s pool and two beach volleyball courts. The grounds additionally include a children’s playground with slides, swings and other attractions.
The Jastrzębie-Zdrój Beach Volleyball Grand Prix and the Regional Championships of the Silesian Cities in beach volleyball are held there regularly in summer. If you would like to plan your visit around a competition, check the dates in advance. Kąpielisko Zdrój’s opening schedule may vary seasonally, so check the current operating conditions before visiting.
Coal and city history at the Carbonarium
The four-storey Carbonarium is dedicated to coal, its industrial use and its role in the history of Jastrzębie-Zdrój. It offers a cultural focus alongside nature, cycling and water-based recreation. If you are interested in the development of the town, the museum complements the landscape and leisure perspective with a topic from industrial history.
