Historic Buildings and Dated Landmarks

The old parish residence on Centralna Street is legally protected and listed in the voivodeship’s register of historic monuments under number 741/66. Construction began on 24 April 1811. This precise date links the building to a specific period in the town’s history. The old school building also tells of a later phase of construction: it was built in 1878 as the town’s first brick school.

The second floor of the school building houses a conference room with its original half-timbered masonry preserved. The building’s history as a school and a distinctive architectural feature can therefore be seen side by side. On Szkolna Street stands the brick Chapel of St John, dating from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. For visitors interested in cultural history, Połomia offers several points of interest: a protected parish residence, the first brick school and a chapel from a similar historical period.

The cemetery beside the historic parish residence also contains a group of sculptures. These include a Cross of the Passion of Christ from 1853, a statue of a saint from 1876 and statues of the Virgin and Child from 1878. Spanning several decades, the three dates give each element its own historical context.

Natural Monument at the Cemetery

A small-leaved lime tree (Tilia cordata) more than 100 years old also grows in the cemetery. Its trunk circumference is 680 centimetres, and it is registered as a natural monument. This makes it a notable natural feature alongside the historic landmarks at the same location. In Połomia, you can therefore find both protected buildings and a protected natural monument—two different aspects of the local heritage.

Two Cycling Routes of Different Lengths

The black cycling route is 18.5 kilometres long and runs from Mszana through Połomia to Gogołowa. It is suitable for all types of bicycles. You can leave your car in the car park by the volunteer fire brigade (OSP) in Połomia; check the parking situation before setting off. The red cycling route in Mszana municipality is 24 kilometres long and also passes through Połomia. You can compare the two routes by their stated distances: 18.5 kilometres on the black route and 24 kilometres on the red route. Route length is a practical point of reference when planning your bike ride.

Swimming and Events

The indoor swimming pool in Połomia has a small children’s pool, a full-size pool and two saunas. Check before your visit whether the pool is currently open seven days a week. It offers aqua aerobics and swimming lessons. If you plan to attend a class, check the current schedule before your visit. You can include the pool as a separate activity in your plans, whether you are interested in swimming, a class or the saunas.

The UMKS Delfin sports club also regularly holds swimming and running competitions in Połomia. If a competition is important to your travel plans, confirm the event date in advance. Together with the cycling routes, these offer different activities for your stay: a bike ride, swimming at the indoor pool or a club competition. The historic buildings and the small-leaved lime tree add other points of interest for a trip that also includes culture and nature.
