Gollnow (Goleniów) combines traces of medieval city history with the Ina and protected natural areas. This offers different perspectives when planning your trip: you can explore historic buildings and a marked city walking trail, discover river landscapes, or learn about the hiking and cycling routes described here. This lets you tailor your stay to whether you want to focus primarily on culture, nature or activity.

Fortified Gate, City Wall and Riverside Promenade

A notable landmark in the city is the Brama Wolińska, also known as Brama Chrobrego. The Gothic fortified gate was built in the 14th century, stands 26 meters high and has six floors. Its dimensions and defensive purpose give this historic building a distinctive form. The Centrum Informacji Turystycznej is located in the passageway. The Centrum Informacji Turystycznej provides information on tourist infrastructure, agritourism and tourism, places of interest in the city and region, cycling routes, and cultural and sporting events.

Significant sections of the medieval city wall have also survived. The most interesting and best-preserved section lies southwest of the Old Town, beside the Ina. Here, city history and the riverbank meet in a specific place. The Goleniowska Aleja Legend adds another perspective with a riverside promenade renovated in 2013. Its granite sculptures depict local legends. If you enjoy exploring historic buildings and local stories together, you will find two distinct ways to connect with Gollnow’s cultural heritage here.

Another historic building by the river is the Spichlerz. Built in 1749, this granary is a distinctive, freestanding building with three floors and a converted attic. It stands parallel to the Ina, about twelve meters from its banks. Its location and design make it a distinct feature of the city’s history. Twierdza Design comes from another chapter of industrial history: this historic industrial site originated as a railway water tower, which was renovated from 2019 to 2020. Today, the site is used by social organizations.

The Ina, Protected Areas and Trails

The Ina flows through both the municipality of Goleniów and the city of Goleniów. The river is therefore a recurring geographical reference point for the places and waterfront areas described here. The Wilcze Uroczysko nature reserve covers just under 63 hectares and extends across the municipalities of Goleniów and Stepnica. It protects a marshland and valuable riparian forests; the area also serves as a refuge for white-tailed eagles.

A different conservation focus shapes the Uroczysko Święta nature reserve, established in 1973. The 9.5-hectare floristic reserve lies in the Goleniów Forest District and protects part of a deciduous woodland. The two areas thus differ both in size and in the features they protect. If you are interested in landscapes and nature conservation, these details provide a concrete framework for understanding the different natural features of the municipality.

In the city, the Miejski Szlak Turystyczny leads to historic buildings and places of interest. It is marked with blue footprints. For longer distances, there is the green PTTK hiking trail, Szlak Borów Goleniowskich: it is 17.1 kilometers long, well marked and particularly recommended for hikers and cyclists. Its route runs between Krzewno, Łęsko, Pucko and Kliniska Wielkie. The city trail and the longer route appeal to different interests, without suggesting that both are the same kind of outing.

The cycling routes also offer different scales for finding your way around. The green cycling route is 45 kilometers long and runs through Goleniów, Żdzary, Łaniego, Krępsko, Miękowo, Żółwią Błoć, Niewiadowo, Glewice, Stacja PKP Mosty, Burowo and Mosty. Another cycling route, described as sentimental, is 13 kilometers long and runs through Borzysławiec, Lubczyna, Czarna Łąka, Pucice and Rurzyca. The lengths and sequences of places help you distinguish between the two route descriptions.

Waterfront in Lubczyna

In Lubczyna, the Przystań Jachtowa is another point of interest for water tourism. The harbor has three basins with space for about 35 inland yachts and 15 sea-going yachts. Along with the Ina, riverside locations and cycling routes, Lubczyna adds to the picture of a destination where cultural, natural and water-related attractions sit side by side. When choosing where to stay, you can first consider which of these themes will shape your travel plans most.
