The parish church of Matki Boskiej Częstochowskiej is Gothic. It was built from the last quarter of the 13th century to the middle of the 15th century. This lengthy construction period is itself an interesting way to approach the church: its history spans a considerable period and cannot be reduced to a single year of construction.
Maszewo’s defensive walls also date from the Middle Ages, more precisely from the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. They were built from granite stones and bricks. The dating is close to the early phase of the church’s construction; at the same time, the walls are a different type of structure. Those interested in the town’s historical traces can therefore consider two distinct structures in terms of their dates and materials.
Another church landmark is the present-day branch church of Saint Albert Chmielowski. The Weiher family of Maszewo founded it in 1490. Unlike the long construction period of the Gothic parish church, this year provides a clear chronological reference. Maszewo therefore has several distinct church histories, without equating them with one another.
Town hall, remembrance and natural monument
Maszewo’s town hall stands among the buildings on the market square, north of the church. This location provides a specific directional reference for situating the two buildings in the town. The monument in Maszewo Park offers another historical perspective: it was erected in 1926 and commemorates those who fell in the First World War. Its purpose differs from the architectural history of the churches and walls; here, remembrance is the focus.
Another distinctive local feature is a protected pedunculate oak on the grounds of the Roman Catholic parish of Matki Boskiej Częstochowskiej. Its trunk circumference is 5.06 metres and it is 24 metres tall. These measurements give the natural monument a specific sense of scale, though they may change slightly as the tree grows. Unlike the churches, town hall and walls, the oak is a living natural monument—a different perspective on Maszewo’s protected local heritage.

The intermunicipal “Równina Nowogardzka” cycling route is relevant for planning rides at the municipal level. It passes through Maszewo Municipality; this does not indicate whether it also passes through the town of Maszewo.
